It was an honour and pleasure to be interviewed, alongside Senegalese Master Drummer Mohammed Gueye on the talking drums of West Africa! I did my best to represent Yoruba! Significant in their contributions were Hélène Neveu Kringelbach, Senior Lecturer in African Studies at UCL and Véronique Tadjo the writer, poet, novelist, and artist from Côte d'Ivoire. Presenter was Bridget Kendall.
Finally we made it to Ethiopia to play an amazing sold out show at the Sheraton in Addis Ababa! The band also did an afternoon of interactive workshops with local musicians and got about town and into the hills above the city!
It's been a long time and I realised just how much I missed, enjoy and LEARN from playing with this one of the world's greatest drummers, the pioneer of Afrobeat!..also my first ever gig in the main space at Ronnie Scotts!
Looking forward to playing the first EARDRUM gig in a couple of years! On Fri Jan 22nd 2016, we'll be supporting Ibibio Sound System @ Passing Clouds, London E8 - come down, it's going to be a massive night!!
Absolutely thrilled to be working as part of this production! Super-talented cast and Director! Initially to be staged as a workshop performance at Stratford Royale Theatre this week, it will hopefully tour in full next year. https://www.facebook.com/The-Secret-Lives-of-Baba-Segis-Wives-2015-A-UK-Workshop-Production-446093888907863/?fref=photo
